When did you start your business?

1995.

Do you consider the location of your shop a key factor to the business’s success?

In a way yes because it is on the main highway of town, but the main reason this shop really does well is due to the repeat of loyal customers.

Who is your average buyer?

Buyers ages range from 14-60, but the clothes we carry go all the way down to infant sizes.

If a total Barney walks in do you treat him with the same respect as a full on loc?

Yes absolutely. Pure customer relations in here. Everybody is treated like a friend.

What is the dumbest question a customer has ever asked?

A customer came into the shop once and was checking out the stickers that we have and asked “are these like stickers that you put on things?”

Do you have a mascot (ex. - An animal that roams freely throughout the building)?

Dogs previously. Hopefully someday again.

What is the craziest return a customer has ever tried to make?

People trying to bring back stuff from another store saying they purchased it here.

Does your store support any local surfers or have a surf team?

We have a skim team.

What is your most annoying grom story?

Nobody is annoying. We welcome anybody to come chill at the shop.

Have you ever had any type of celeb roll in and make a purchase?

Yes- (lots of pro moto guys)Ricky Carmichael, Ronnie Renner, Timmy Ferry, Brian Deegan, Roy Halladay (pro baseball player), Dan Wheldon (pro indy car driver), Matt Geiger (pro basketball player), Vinny Testaverde (pro football player), James Stewart (pro moto).

Have you ever pulled a hot chick/guy solely due to the fact that you own/manage a surf shop?

No. I don’t like to fraternize with the customers.

How many days a week do you surf now compared to before you owned/managed a surf shop?

Due to the unreliable waves in this area I surf whenever there’s surf. No matter what.

Who is your favorite surfer and why?

Taj Burrow- Cause he has no limitations. He’s a crazy Aussie.

Has a customer trying on clothes ever walked out completely naked?

No, but I saw the first boob I have ever seen in the shop yesterday. A girl came in and tried on some dresses that were really low cut and walked out of the dressing room with her boob hanging out.

Has a person ever walked in totally blitzkrieged (really intoxicated) and tried to make a purchase? If so elaborate.

Yes for sure. We’re located next to a strip bar so you can already imagine what we’ve seen.

Every store has to deal with shoplifting. What is your most memorable experience and what is your shoplifting policy?

A guy came in that has 2 felonies and put on shorts under his pants. Once he realized there were cameras everywhere in the shop he ran out, but I chased him. I got hung up in his car somehow and was dragged around everywhere. The guy tried to reverse his car and hit a pole while I was still attached to the car. He got convicted of a felony assault, retail theft and resisting arrest. I was hospitalized after getting dragged around by this guy’s car. Our shoplifting policy wasn’t too harsh before , but since there has been a theft epidemic lately we press charges now.

And last but not least tell us one of the craziest shop stories you can remember?

3 V.I.P. customers that I gave a discount to broke in one night and stole 30k in stuff. They came into the shop for 27 minutes and swiped as much as they could (30k). It was all caught on camera.
